New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo (44) looks on before the game against the Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field.

Cam Skattebo never shies away from contact.

The New York Giants running back might be out for the season after suffering a significant ankle injury, but that didn't stop him from getting into the action during WWE Raw at Madison Square Garden on Nov. 17.

Skattebo's participation quickly drew the ire of plenty on social media, who were quick to point out his injury. One day later, the rookie fired back in a post on X.

"Aye, honestly if you don’t like that I’m having a good time while dealing with a tough time, then just go ahead and unfollow and casually move on," Skattebo said. "I’m not able to play football and have the fun I’ve been having my whole life so I am doing things outside the box trying to find stuff to keep me happy. Enjoy the rest of y’all’s week and just don’t talk about me if you ain’t got nothing nice to say"

The Arizona State product was sitting ringside with several of his teammates and comedian Andrew Schulz during the event. That's when the wrestling trio known as "Judgment Day" – which consists of Finn Balor, JD McDonagh and Dominik Mysterio – got into an argument with the group.

The exchange ended with a shoving match, and Skattebo received a little extra contact in the brawl.

Getting involved in wrestling matches probably wasn't part of the rehab component of the rookie's recovery, but it's unclear whether the Giants will weigh in on what happened.

Skattebo has continued to maintain his presence around the team during his on-field absence. He quickly returned to the facility after surgery and attended meetings on Oct. 29, according to then-head coach Brian Daboll.

The rookie also joined his teammates at MetLife Stadium in Week 11, riding around on a scooter ahead of New York's contest against the Green Bay Packers.

It remains a long road ahead in recovery for the running back, which NFL Media's Ian Rapoport reported would sideline him for 4-6 months.

Skattebo needed emergency surgery to repair the dislocated ankle. He also suffered a fractured fibula and a ruptured deltoid ligament in the process.

The expectation is that Skattebo's injury won't linger into the 2026 season. Now he'll have to avoid any extracurricular activities that could jeopardize that rehab.

Even if it means letting someone else defend New York's championship drought.
