When the YWCA of Northwest Ohio held recognition programs 40 years ago, leadership realized that “time and time again,” men were the only ones recognized, said Lisa McDuffie, president and chief executive officer of the organization.
So the organization began honoring women making impacts in their communities in art, business, education, government, science, social services, volunteerism, and a Woman on the Rise.
“In northwest Ohio, there are extraordinary women doing extraordinary things,” Ms. McDuffie said. “We knew that women were doing wonderful things, so we decided to put this event together.”
The nonprofit announced Tuesday the honorees who will be recognized March 26 at the 31st annual YWCA Milestones: A Tribute to Women luncheon at the Glass City Center. The eight winners are:
