ELKO, Nev. (KOLO) - It is one of the most informative stops you can make when driving across northern Nevada on Interstate 80.
“The California Trail Interpretive Center is a great place. It tells the story of over 250,000 pioneers who made their way across the silver state on the California trail and looks at what life was like for them when they were traveling between the years of 1841 and 1869,” explained Tracie Barnthouse of Travel Nevada.
And the original trail would have been where I-80 is now.
“It would follow the river,” said Paul Brownlee, the facility director of the interpretive center. “It would be right about where the where the highway is.”
