The Boston Red Sox had a very talented team this year, but they didn't compete for the World Series in the same way that many expected them to. In fact, they finished in third place in the American League East.
Now, the Red Sox might lose Alex Bregman to free agency. Bregman opted out of his contract and entered free agency for the second time in as many seasons. Jim Bowden of The Athletic recently projected Bregman would sign a massive $182 million deal this winter, which should fit the Red Sox's payroll.
Sportsnaut's Matt Johnson recently predicted the Red Sox would re-sign Bregman in free agency this offseason.
