ANDERSON, Ind. — The National Transportation Safety Board has released its preliminary report on a deadly plane crash near Anderson .
The Madison County Sheriff's Department responded to single-engine plane on fire that struck a tree around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4 in the 4200 block of North County Road 100 West, just north of Anderson.
The coroner identified the pilot as 79-year-old Robert Snider, who is from the Elwood area and was the only person in the plane.
According to the NSTB preliminary report, The Funk B85C plane left a private grass airfield in Wolcott, Indiana, earlier in the day and was headed to the Anderson Regional Airport.
The report says someone recently bought the plane, and the pilot was flying the plane to the airport for the new owner.
