MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) - Vermont will receive nearly $22 million from a federal judge’s approval of a $7.4 billion settlement with the company that helped fuel the opioid crisis.
OxyContin-maker Purdue Pharma and its owners, the Sackler family, agreed to the settlement earlier this year, and a judge last week approved the deal.
New Hampshire is slated to get $30 million, and New York is slated to get $3 billion.
Thousands of victims could also be paid thousands of dollars each.
