Growing up, Alabama guard Geno VanDeMark didn’t think he would be in this spot.
He didn’t know he would become a football player.
“I grew up thinking I was going to be a baseball player,” VanDeMark said.
Instead, the 6-foot-5, 326-pound lineman became a football player for the Crimson Tide, capable of playing at the highest level of the sport.
VanDeMark has started in seven games this past season after he played in all 13 games a season ago. He transferred to the Crimson Tide ahead of the 2024 season after spending three years at Michigan State.
On Saturday, VanDeMark will be among the players honored on senior day. No. 10 Alabama will face Eastern Illinois on Saturday (1 p.m. CT, ESPN+/SEC Network+) at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
