A boat owner and captain are facing federal charges after authorities said they planned to bring hundreds of kilograms from the Dominican Republic to Miami before they were intercepted by the U.S. Coast Guard.
Jeffry Dominguez, 34, and Luis Antonio Garcia Rosario, 37, are facing charges including possession with intent to distribute cocaine and conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Florida said Tuesday.
Both men were arraigned back on Sept. 26 following an investigation by the DEA and Broward Sheriff's Office.
According to court documents, Dominguez and Garcia Rosario made the drug trafficking plans between Aug. 24 and 28.
