Elk hunting in Pennsylvania is under review, as the state Game Commission acknowledges its license-lottery system has “not been compliant” with the law, a spokesman said Tuesday.

After the state Board of Game Commissioners earlier this year made several changes to the annual elk hunt , the Game Commission is continuing “an extensive review of elk hunting in Pennsylvania,” spokesman Travis Lau said.

“That process is ongoing, but it’s clear we have not been compliant with the letter of the law in some areas, including the drawing,” he told lehighvalleylive.com .

Lau was responding to questions that arose during a Tuesday morning meeting of the state House Game & Fisheries Committee .
