An NYPD sergeant pretended to be an executive with federal immigration authorities and told a family to report to an ICE facility in the city, according to an indictment unsealed Tuesday.

Sgt. Atickul Islam claimed to be the director of ICE's New York Field Office and contacted his victim in March, according to the two-page indictment filed by federal prosecutors in Brooklyn.

Islam told the victim and their family to report to an immigration facility by April 15, the indictment states. The victim and their family were not identified in the court documents.

Islam faces one count of false impersonation of an officer of the United States, the indictment states.
