SABINE PASS, Texas — A major legal shift is underway in the wrongful death lawsuits tied to the April 29 scaffolding collapse at the Port Arthur LNG construction site, where three workers were killed and two others were seriously injured.

Earlier this month, the Texas Multidistrict Litigation Panel approved a request by energy corporations ConocoPhillips and Sempra to move all pre-trial matters from these cases into a single court.

The consolidation includes lawsuits filed in both Jefferson County and Harris County, all stemming from the same industrial accident involving a vertical jump-form scaffolding system that suddenly failed during overnight work.
