Outfielder Trent Grisham of the New York Yankees, infielder Gleyber Torres of the Detroit Tigers, and pitchers Brandon Woodruff of the Milwaukee Brewers and Shota Imanaga of the Chicago Cubs have accepted the qualifying offer from their respective teams, it was announced today. Each player is now under contract for $22.05 million for the 2026 season, and will be able to re-enter the free agent market after 2026 without being saddled with the qualifying offer again.
I don’t think any of the decisions qualify as a surprise. Grisham and Torres seemed like the two most likely players to accept the QO, and Woodruff and Imanaga each seemed to be pretty decent possibilities.
