ASHEVILLE - In April 1963, Joe and Peggy Swicegood introduced Little Pigs BBQ to Asheville diners, unaware of how it would become a cornerstone in the community. More than 60 years later, the restaurant known for its hickory-smoked barbecue has lost its matriarch, Peggy Swicegood.

On the morning of Nov. 15, Peggy Swicegood died surrounded by family due to natural causes. She was 93.
