The Indiana Senate held somewhat of proxy vote for redistricting during the ceremonial start of the 2026 legislative session Nov. 18, known as Organization Day .

The vote was for a resolution that normally would be uneventful: The one that states when lawmakers will reconvene for the rest of the session. This is almost always in January, and this year, the resolution states Jan. 5, 2026.
