NELSON, Neb. (KSNB) - A Superior man was sentenced to life in prison Tuesday for the 2023 murder of his girlfriend.

A judge sentenced 32-year-old Sebastian Dunbar to life in prison plus 48 to 50 years for the death of 35-year-old Molly Gruber.

He was convicted last summer of first-degree murder, use of a firearm to commit a felony, child abuse and assault by strangulation or suffocation.

Over the course of six days, the jury heard testimony from 19 witnesses and received 375 exhibits. It was determined Molly Gruber was strangled prior to her death by gunshot wound.

Court records show District Court Judge Morgan Farquhar sentenced Dunbar to life on the murder charge, 50 years on the weapons charge and three years each for the child abuse and strangulation charges.
