The Red Sox have a logjam in the outfield and have a decision to make about how they want their outfield to look in 2026.
According to ESPN’s Jeff Passan , it’s almost a sure thing that Wilyer Abreu or Jarren Duran will get traded.
“The Red Sox almost surely will deal one of them,” the MLB insider wrote . “There aren’t enough at-bats in the lineup for both, especially if they add another bat in free agency.”
Duran’s name came up in trade rumors at the 2025 deadline , but Boston elected to hold onto him. He recently signed a one-year, $7.7 million contract to avoid arbitration.
Abreu is fresh off his second straight Gold Glove and under team control through 2028.
