WASHINGTON —
Senate Majority Leader John Thune says he wants to move quickly after the House of Representatives voted 427-1 to force the release of the Jeffrey Epstein case files, marking a rare moment of bipartisan agreement.
"As soon as we can figure out kind of where our members are," Thune said when asked if he would bring it up for a vote. "We're 'hotlining' the bill right now, and if the hotline comes back clean, we can obviously move it pretty quickly."
But even with that overwhelming vote, the files’ public release remains uncertain: the bill still must clear the Senate, be signed by President Donald Trump, and the Justice Department will ultimately decide what is disclosed and what remains redacted.
