BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- A North Tonawanda teen who was urgently searching for a liver donor has received a successful transplant.
A little over two weeks ago, 17-year-old Meredith Roberts was diagnosed with sudden, severe liver failure. She was placed on the very top of the liver transplant list listed as 1A, the most urgent category for those in need of a lifesaving transplant.
This past Saturday, her family received the news.
"The doctor just came in very quietly and calmy and said they had accepted a liver for Meredith," said Sara Roberts, Meredith's mother. "I couldn't even think to cry, I couldn't think to cheer or shout, I just felt it all and I just wanted to tell everyone because this is what everyone was praying for."
