PEORIA, Ill. – Some Illinois American Water customers may see a reduced amount on their next bill, or no amount at all.
25 News reports the bill credit comes from the company receiving proceeds from a settlement with various PFAS manufacturers.
PFAS are manufactured chemicals typically used in household products including Teflon and Scotchgard.
Illinois American Water says there are thousands of PFAS chemicals that persist in the environment.
