KINGSLAND, Ga. — The suspect in a South Carolina woman's murder was captured Monday morning during a traffic stop in Southeast Georgia, according to the Kingsland Police Department.
The stop on I-95 South began due to speeding, but police soon discovered the driver was also in a stolen car. KPD says the 2021 Kia Sorento driven by Luis Oscar Ocanto was reported stolen out of North Charleston, South Carolina.
After detaining the driver, KPD says it learned from the North Charleston Police Department that Ocanto was suspected in a murder involving his ex-girlfriend earlier that same day. NCPD said Ocanto allegedly killed the woman at her apartment and fled in her car.
Multiple items belonging to the woman and other belongings tied to the homicide investigation were found in the car, accord
