CINCINNATI —
A Romanian man has been sentenced after he pleaded guilty to placing skimming devices on ATMs around Greater Cincinnati.
Danut Valentin Urseiu, 32, was accused of conspiring with others to commit bank fraud in January and February 2023. Advertisement
According to the US Attorney for the Southern District of Ohio’s office, Urseiu and his co-conspirators used the devices to steal information from cardholders and defraud financial institutions in Cincinnati, Green Township and Liberty Township.
Investigators said fingerprints on the cameras placed with the skimming devices in Ohio matched Urseiu’s prints from previous arrests in New York and in Michigan.
Urseiu was previously convicted of illegally reentering the United States in Michigan.
