Prince George's County is reversing a nearly 30-year ban on pit bulls after a unanimous vote Tuesday to end the restrictions.

The new legislation, approved 7-0, will create new safeguards and accountability for pit bull owners.

It’s a day Keith Holland says he’s looked forward to ever since he got his dog Thanos, who is a pit bull.

"For most of my cognizant years, I’ve never been able to safely have a pit bull in P.G. County, leading me to have to send one of my pits to Virginia," he said.

Holland says the days of long-distance visits are over. He believes this new legislation will lead to more responsible pet owners and education.
