On Tuesday, 11 months after the case reached the Appeals Court, attorneys for the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association and Western Massachusetts schools and athletes, went in front of a panel and argued their sides of a dispute regarding scheduling mistakes and enforced forfeitures by the MIAA in 2024.
The one case heard by the court is an amalgamation of four cases that were first decided on by Superior Court judges in Western Mass. at the end of October, 2024.
The cases were injunctions filed on behalf of several schools, school districts, and students in the region, each of which felt it was unfair that they should face forfeiture penalties for games not listed on their schedule by a September deadline .
