A man arraigned on a murder charge in a Dorchester courthouse Monday had weapons and drug charges against him dropped 26 days ago when no lawyer could be found to represent him, according to court records.
Javon K. Robinson, 29, is accused of fatally stabbing a man on Fremont Street in Mattapan Saturday around 7:20 p.m. Robinson was arrested in Hyde Park on Sunday afternoon, authorities said.
Robinson was ordered held without bail Monday after pleading not guilty in Dorchester Municipal Court, records show. Boston defense attorney Michael L Tumposky was appointed as his lawyer, records show.
Officials did not release the name of the man who was killed or disclose a potential motive for the killing.
In an email to the Globe, Tumposky asserted his client’s innocence.
