MALTA, N.Y. – Since breaking ground in the summer of 2009, semiconductor manufacturer GlobalFoundries and its Fab 8 campus have served as a major economic driver for the Capital Region.

One of its biggest impacts is in job creation.

“Over 70,000 direct and indirect jobs have been created in the Capital Region as a result of GlobalFoundries presence in Saratoga County,” said Greg Connors, president of the Saratoga Economic Development Corporation. “That exceeds the 70,000 – 2,500 to the 3,000 full-time job opportunities that exist at that Fab 8 campus.”

Connors previously worked as a senior government relations executive for GlobalFoundries.
