Experts say Thanksgiving dinner will cost more this year due to the rising cost of Turkey and other goods.

“Overall, the cost is going to be much higher,” Quinnipiac University professor of international business Mohammad Elahee said. “Because of higher turkey price, cranberry sauce and other ingredients that are used in making the stuffing.”

The United States Department of Agriculture expects farmers to produce five million less turkeys this year. This is a 3% decrease from last year, but a 40-year low.

Reports from 1996 show that 301 million turkeys were raised that year.
