The Red Sox would like to add a bat to their roster this offseason . While they’ve been connected to Pete Alonso and Alex Bregman after he opted out of the final two years of his contract with Boston, another name as emerged.

According to WEEI’s Rob Bradford , the Red Sox are showing interest in Bo Bichette.

Bichette has spent his first seven MLB seasons with the Toronto Blue Jays, but is now a free agent.

The 27-year-old fits what the Red Sox are looking for: A right-handed bat who can play shortstop, second base and third base. Boston has a shortstop in Trevor Story, but it’s unclear if Bregman will return to the Red Sox in 2026. Should Bregman leave, Marcelo Mayer is an option to take over third. He can also play second.
