RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - Federal agents with ICE, Customs and Border Patrol are expanding their operations in North Carolina, moving to Raleigh after spending several days in Charlotte.
The operations are sparking conversations about what ICE can legally do and how people can protect themselves if agents show up at their place of business.
Managing attorney with Dyer Immigration Law Group, Pedro Diaz, said ICE agents can enter public spaces in businesses and restaurants, but they are not allowed access to private areas of those businesses without a warrant or the business’s consent.
