NEW ORLEANS —
Orleans Parish Sheriff-Elect Michelle Woodfork has announced her transition plan for running the New Orleans jail.
Woodfork describes this as a "new era of accountability," and has appointed several co-chairs to address pressing issues. Advertisement
“This transition is about delivering the modern, accountable Sheriff’s Office the people of Orleans Parish deserve,” said Sheriff-Elect Woodfork.
Woodfork has tapped experts in finance, public administration, mental health, and corrections to assist in the transition.
She has a longer transition period of about six months and will be sworn in on May 4.
During the transition period, Woodfork is hiring and encouraging individuals to apply for jobs or submit ideas and suggestions.
