HELENA For the second day, the court had challenges communicating with David Darrow Russo. He is facing three felony counts of assault and a felony theft charge in Lewis & Clark County.
Russo, 45 years old, was scheduled to appear in court on Monday, but was not cooperating with jail staff and could not be seen. On Tuesday, he made his initial appearance via Zoom before Justice of the Peace Mike Swingley, but was again uncooperative.
Evan Charney reports - watch the video:
Swingley went over to the jail next door to address Russo in person. Following that meeting, Swingley ordered a mental health evaluation to be completed as soon as possible.
On Friday at around 7:30 a.m., law enforcement was dispatched to Owl Gulch Road, about 15 minutes north of York, for a disabled vehicle.
