Blue Jays make big roster decision with top prospect Ricky Tiedemann
The Toronto Blue Jays haven't seen Ricky Tiedemann pitch in a while.
But on Tuesday, they had a key decision that really only had one outcome.
The Blue Jays added Tiedemann to their 40-man roster. That protects him from being selected in the Rule 5 Draft.
Tiedemann has ranked as a top-100 prospect by Baseball America in each of the past three seasons.
He's a 6-foot-4, 220-pound left-hander with nasty strikeout stuff.
His career ERA in the minor leagues is 3.02, and he has struck out 39.6% of the batters he has faced in pro baseball.
Tiedemann didn't pitch at all in 2025. He underwent Tommy John surgery in July 2024.
Given that timeline, Tiedemann should be good to go to start the 2025 sea
