ANN ARBOR, MI — Sean Rositano, a social worker and legislative director in the Michigan House of Representatives, hopes to give the University of Michigan “back to the people.”

The progressive Democrat Detroiter is looking to join the eight-member UM Board of Regents, the university’s governing board , he announced via Facebook on Monday, Nov. 17.

“We need a social work mindset on the Board of Regents for listening to folks and hearing them out and trying to come to the best solution that is best for everybody at the university,” Rositano, 32, said.

Rositano is the first non-incumbent Michigander to announce a regent campaign for 2026.
