WATERLOO, Iowa — Voters in Waterloo and Cedar Falls are gearing up for important local elections in two weeks, featuring a mayoral race and city council contests.

The mayoral race in Waterloo is between incumbent Quentin Hart and City Councilor Dave Boesen. Both candidates failed to secure more than 50 percent of the votes earlier this month, prompting a runoff election.

Black Hawk County is preparing for a quick turnaround following recent city and school elections. Early voting is currently available at the county courthouse until December 1, with over 1,000 people having already voted. However, the deadline to request an absentee ballot has passed.
