It took James Franklin five weeks to secure a new job after being fired by Penn State.
His former players are happy to see him land on his feet.
A day after Franklin was announced as Virginia Tech’s new boss, four Nittany Lions made available for interviews all expressed their support of their former head coach.
Running back Nick Singleton, long snapper Tyler Duzansky, offensive lineman Anthony Donkoh and safety Zakee Wheatley were all asked to react to the news that Franklin, who recruited and coached all of them for their entire college careers, will be leading the Hokies.
Of the four, Singleton said he had already reached out to Franklin to congratulate him while others said they planned to this week.
“I texted him (Monday) saying congrats and that I’m proud of him,” Singleton said
