1BROOKLYN, NY – A 71-year-old man was hospitalized Friday evening after being punched in the face during a confrontation on a city bus in Crown Heights, police said.

The assault occurred around 5:30 p.m. aboard a northbound B46 bus as it approached Union Street and Utica Avenue.

According to police, the suspect began arguing with the victim before striking him, causing the man to fall forward and hit his head on a pole.

The attacker quickly exited the bus and fled north on Utica Avenue, leaving passengers stunned as emergency responders were called to the scene.

The victim was taken by EMS to NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County, where he was listed in stable condition.
