Dear Virginie,

We are a family of four plus dog living in a small semi-detached house in downtown Toronto. Our only bathroom is in desperate need of a makeover. The vanity is nasty, dating from the 1980s, and I need more storage. I would love to have a place to plug in my hairdryer and not have to unplug it all the time. We need new light fixtures, and somewhere to hang wet towels and stash laundry. Can you help us?

Bathrooms are always a fun challenge, but never cheap to fix. I’m afraid to say that while yours has much potential, it will likely involve the coordination of many trades. You’ll need a carpenter, plumber, electrician, tiler, drywaller and painter to pull off what I’m suggesting. A good contractor will definitely be your best friend here.
