Traffic was stopped on Babcock Street for the second time in 24 hours after crews retrieved a Cessna Skyhawk from the side of the roadway in Palm Bay.
Several people who live nearby stopped to watch the plane being removed from the trees Tuesday.
“They’ve got a recovery flatbed out here and a mini crane, and they’re just pulling it out a little at a time,” Melissa Clark said.
“It’s terrifying,” Charles Benfeito said. “An airplane could kill people.”
Brevard County Fire Rescue responded to the crash Monday night. The agency said the pilot refused treatment or transport.
“Thank God he’s alive and didn’t hit any cars or anything like that,” Benfeito said.
