New York, NY — (ABC 36 News Now) — The 12th-ranked Kentucky Wildcats fell to the 17th-ranked Michigan State Spartans, 83–66, in the first game of the Champions Classic at Madison Square Garden. The Wildcats fell behind early, and Michigan State used an 18–2 run to open up a 32–19 lead. From there, the Spartans cruised.
UK shot an anemic 35% from the floor and hit just 7 of 30 three-point attempts. Michigan State outrebounded the Wildcats 42–28.
UK was led in scoring by Otega Oweh, who finished with 12 points, while Mo Dioubate, Denzel Aberdeen, and Collin Chandler each chipped in 10. The Wildcats host Loyola-Maryland on Friday night at Rupp Arena at 7:00 p.m.
