A road rage clash left a man slashed and bitten along West Neck Road in Huntington on Tuesday, Nov. 18, Suffolk County police said.
Jayson Heitner, 26, of Huntington, approached a 60-year-old driver with a boxcutter after their vehicles collided near Old Hickory Lane at 3:42 p.m., according to the release. The victim had been driving a 2017 Mercedes Sprinter van northbound when a Jeep hit his vehicle.
Heitner allegedly confronted the man, leading to a fight where the victim suffered multiple slash wounds to his face and body and bite injuries to his fingers, police said.
Heitner was arrested and charged with Assault Second Degree. He is being held at the Third Precinct and is set for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on Wednesday, Nov. 19, authorities said.
The victim was taken to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
