ST. PAUL — Minnesota Duluth only partially overcame a rough start and exited the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference volleyball tournament at the hands of top-seeded Concordia-St. Paul 3-1 (25-9, 25-19, 20-25, 25-20) on Tuesday night at the Gangelhoff Center.
The Golden Bears, ranked No. 5 in the nation, came out with 14 kills against one error in the first set to hand UMD a first-set loss equaling the Bulldogs' fewest points in a set to 25 points this season. Things improved for eighth-seeded UMD in the second, including an increase from five kills in set one to 12 in set two, but not enough to avoid going down 2-0.
