Coming soon to St. Joseph High School will be a pilot course on artificial intelligence.

St. Joseph Public Schools Superintendent Kristen Bawks tells us the technology is changing the workplace, and the district wants to prepare students.

“ We feel like not only does this align perfectly with our strategic planning goal, but it offers a timely response to this growing need of AI literacy in our schools,” Bawks said.

So, what will be explored in the class?

“ This course will include basic computer science fundamentals related to AI, artificial intelligence, and we’ll also explore the ethical implications and impacts of AI on our society.”

Bawks says the class, AI Foundations, will be led by teacher Colin Uren, who attended some intensive training this past summer put on the Michigan
