One person died in a fire in the Bronx Tuesday evening, the FDNY said.

The flames broke out shortly before 9 p.m. on the top floor of a two-story residential building at 722 E. 168th St., between Boston Rd. and Forest Ave., in East Tremont .

A total of 60 firefighters and EMS medics rushed to the scene. The blaze was quickly brought under control by shortly after 9:30 p.m.

The FDNY did not immediately provide more information about the victim.

A fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.

The deadly fire follows a week that saw the Big Apple devastated by five fatal blazes, spanning from Queens , Brooklyn and the Bronx to the Upper East Side and Roosevelt Island .

Four of five of the victims were older New Yorkers, in their 70s or 80s, and all were killed by fires
