Two flights heading to Sri Lanka were diverted to the Thiruvananthapuram international airport in Kerala on Wednesday (November 19, 2025) due to the bad weather prevailing in the island nation.

The Dammam-Colombo flight and the Turkish Airlines flight diverted to Thiruvananthapuram safely landed at the airport in the morning.

The flights that diverted to here will depart for their destinations once the weather improves there, said airport officials.

Parts of Sri Lanka and southern India have been experiencing heavy rain for the past couple of days, influenced by a low-pressure area formed in the Bay of Bengal and adjoining Sri Lanka.

The rain gauge at Thiruvananthapuram airport recorded 43 mm of rainfall during the last 24 hours ending at 5.30 a.m. on Wednesday.
