SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - A Holy Cross College psychology professor recently traveled to Poland to help young Ukrainian refugees deal with the psychological trauma of being forced from their home by war.
Dr. Cosette Fox works with refugees through “Project Personality,” a program that seeks to help youth instill a growth mindset for self-improvement. Fox said accepting change in yourself and your environment leads to improved mental health.
More than 5 million Ukrainians have left the war-torn nation since Russia’s invasion began in 2022.
Fox said 15% of the world’s population struggles with mental health issues, with numbers understandably higher among refugee populations.
