BIRMINGHAM, Ala. —
A Birmingham business is working through a major staffing challenge. ICE confirmed with WVTM 13 a search warrant was issued last week. That led to more than a dozen people being detained at a local restaurant.
An ICE spokesperson said it happened at Nori Thai & Sushi on Cahaba River Road Friday.
In a post on social media, Nori staff said several of their team members were detained. The post has now been deleted.
ICE said 18 people were detained during the raid, and despite everything that happened, the restaurant is still open and serving customers. Due to staffing issues, though, the eatery is only operating with takeout or delivery options.
A number of customers said they love coming to eat at the restaurant and made it a point to come and support when they found
