CHINA GROVE — AD Josh Trexler announced that Carson will retire the No. 4 baseball jersey of Owen White next month.
The ceremony will take place in the school gym before the start of the boys basketball game on Dec. 12, at approximately 7:30 p.m.
White, 26, has pitched in eight MLB games for the Texas Rangers and Chicago White Sox and is the first Cougar to reach the highest level of his sport.
White holds numerous Carson school records for hitting as well as for pitching. He played shortstop for the Cougars when he wasn’t on the mound for coach Chris Cauble.
He won 32 games for the Cougars in four varsity seasons, while striking out 358 batters.
White was named the North Carolina Gatorade Player
