MURRAY – While Kentucky residents are expected to begin receiving Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits again soon, Murray-Calloway County Need Line Executive Director Tonia Casey believes it will probably be a while before many families’ lives get back to normal.

SNAP payments were suspended at the beginning of November due to the federal government shutdown, which ended last week after Congress reached an agreement to pass a spending bill. Gov. Andy Beshear said Friday that the state had received approval to fully fund SNAP benefits, and he announced the following morning that many eligible Kentuckians should see benefits loaded on their cards that day, with more to follow in the coming days.
