Ottapalam, Palakkad: The Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) has reinstated 24/7 monitoring at its checkposts, now rebranded as checkpoints, across the stretch from Kasaragod to Palakkad.
The renewed inspections come as part of intensified vehicle checks during the Sabarimala pilgrimage season.
Earlier this year, vigilance inspections uncovered corruption, including bribery, following which the department had restricted operations to morning hours. From last Saturday onwards, full-time checks have been restored.
Officials have been posted at six key locations: Walayar, Gopalapuram, Govindapuram, Vazhikkadavu, Wayanad, and Kannur. The Transport Commissioner has directed Deputy Commissioners to deploy only officers with clean service records.
Each checkpoint will be manned by one Motor Vehic
