Nitish Kumar has been elected as the leader of the JD(U) legislature party and will take oath as Bihar's Chief Minister for a record 10th time on November 20. This decision was made during a meeting of newly elected MLAs in Patna. State minister Shrawon Kumar confirmed that Kumar will also be chosen as the leader of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar during an upcoming meeting of the alliance partners.

The NDA achieved a significant victory in the recent assembly elections, securing 202 out of 243 seats. The BJP emerged as the largest party with 89 seats, followed closely by JD(U) with 85 seats. Other allies, including Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party (LJP), Jitan Ram Manjhi’s Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM), and Upendra Kushwaha’s Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM), contributed to the NDA's success.

The new Bihar cabinet is expected to comprise 30 to 32 ministers, including the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Ministers. The BJP is anticipated to hold both deputy CM posts, while JD(U) is likely to have nine ministers. The Speaker's position is expected to go to the BJP after negotiations between the two parties.

Kumar will meet Governor Arif Mohammad Khan to initiate the government formation process. The current assembly will be dissolved on the same day. A swearing-in ceremony is scheduled at Patna's Gandhi Maidan, with heavy security measures in place. Notable leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, are expected to attend the event. This marks a historic moment for Bihar as Kumar begins his new term with a strong majority in the assembly.
