The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has revised the fees for vehicle fitness tests, introducing a new age-based structure under the Central Motor Vehicles (Fifth Amendment) Rules, 2025. The biggest change is that the higher fee slabs now begin from the 10-year mark instead of 15 years, bringing many more vehicles under the updated cost brackets. The government has created three clear age groups for fitness testing: 10–15 years, 15–20 years and above 20 years.
